Decline Chest Press: how to do it and form tips

A barbell or machine press on a decline bench that targets the lower chest through a longer range of motion than a flat press. Builds lower-pec thickness and fullness.

Form tips

  1. Set the bench to 15–30 degrees of decline and secure your feet under the pads before unracking.
  2. Lower the bar to your lower chest — decline naturally shifts contact point down from a flat press.
  3. Keep your shoulder blades pinched together throughout; don't lose tension at the bottom.
