Prone Y Raise: how to do it and form tips

A face-down prone exercise where dumbbells are raised in a Y shape overhead, targeting the lower trapezius and posterior deltoids critical for scapular stability and posture.

Form tips

  1. Lie face-down on an incline bench or the floor with thumbs pointing up.
  2. Lift only until your arms are parallel to the floor — this is rarely more than a few inches of travel.
  3. These should be very light dumbbells or even bodyweight; if you're straining, the weight is too heavy.
