Push Press: how to do it and form tips

An explosive overhead press that uses a shallow dip-and-drive from the legs to launch the bar past the sticking point. Builds shoulder strength and total-body power with heavier loads than the strict press.

Form tips

  1. Dip straight down 2–3 inches keeping your torso vertical, then drive up hard.
  2. Time the press so the bar leaves your shoulders as your legs finish extending.
  3. Finish with biceps by your ears and the bar stacked over mid-foot.
